Peppermint ;
The vines blocked full view, but Mint was sure that there was an equine emerging from the water. This had to be the strange blue horse she met yesterday. Still, she wasn't completely sure, and stayed hidden. The stallions large, round eyes laid themselves towards the trees. Mint back away from the vines, and slowly walked to better cover. Every part of her wanted to know more about the blue stallion.
Percy ;
The water glistened blue and reflected off of Percy's coat underwater. He swam to the surface and took a breath. He saw a flash of green and brown blending into the vines and trees. He peered through the leaves and tried to make out who was behind them. Who else could be out here?
Peppermint ;
After quite a few minutes passed of Mint hiding behind the trees, she suddenly realized how stupid this was. It was just a horse... that was blue.. and lived underwater. Okay, well, she did have a right to be a bit freaked out. Mint decided that she should just go talk to the stallion, he could be a future friend. Gathering her self, she held her head high in dignity, stepped gracefully out of the vines, then she tripped over a huge log. Mint tumbled down the beach, and ended up only feet away from the stallion. She laid there for a few minutes. Slowly, and embarrassed, Mint stood up and shook her sandy self off. "Uh, hi," Mint said awkwardly to the stallion.
Percy ;
Percy felt nervous despite his usual confidence. Stop it, he told himself. Suddenly the creature appeared from the forest: a little mare. She took a few steps and then dripped over a log in the sand. And fell in front of him. Although he was usually serious, he couldn't help letting out a little laugh in spite of himself. She finally stood up and awkwardly said hi to him. He stood there for a moment. "Oh..uh.. hello." He said, not sure of himself.
Peppermint ;
The blue stallion let out a snort of laughter at Mint. Mint's lips twitched into a smile. The stallion seemed nervous. 'Good, we both feel the same right now,' Mint thought sarcastically. The stallion did seem open to conversation, so Mint ventured to reply to his greeting. "I'm sorry for watching you... and falling on you," Mint said.
Percy ;
The mare acted like she was nervous too, and smiled up at him. She apologized for spying on him. "That's okay." He said, not sure of what to say next. They stood in awkward silence for several minutes. "Why do I have to be so unsocial and awkward?" He thought to himself. He racked his brain for things to say.. but couldn't think of anything. He felt like he had so many things to say.. he just didn't know how to say them.
Peppermint ;
The stallion rested his eyes on Mint, suddenly, a jolt of electricity went through her; Mint had never felt that, and it scared her, she did have an idea as to what it could be, though. The stallion told her it was fine, and she relaxed, feeling less awkward about watching him. Expecting the stallion to say more, Mint waited. A few minutes passed, and Mint and the stallion were just standing there. Raising her head from looking at the sand, she looked at him to see he was watching her. Another shiver went down Mint's spine. "Well, what is your name? Mine is Peppermint, you may call me Mint, if you would like," Mint finally said to break the silence. Mint knew that she was now reluctant to talk to the stallion, she was scared, because she was in love.
Percy ;
To break the silence, the mare introduced herself as Peppermint. "I'm Percy." He said softly. She looked at him with big eyes, and he started feeling nervous again. But he couldn't help looking at her. This made little butterflies in his stomach. He lurched, then stared at her again. "I've got to go." He said, and then turned around and cantered away from her. He disappeared out of site around a large boulder.
Peppermint ;
The stallion gentled said his name was Percy. 'That would explain the water,' Mint thought. His beautiful sea - green eyes laid themselves on her again, Mint couldn't control her whole stomach from flipping over, and her throat tightening up. Her composure slackened, and her legs felt weak. Percy unexpectedly spun around and galloped off behind a boulder. Mint was slightly disappointed, but also relieved, she had no doubt she would've collapsed in front of Percy in only a few more seconds. Mints legs gave out, and she flopped into the sand, laying her head down on the soft sand, Mint thought about Percy. The sound of the crashing waves soon lulled her to sleep.
Percy ;
Percy galloped the beach. It calmed his nerves feeling the cool breeze rustle his coat. Finally he stopped about a mile away. After standing in the ocean thinking about her, he looked up at the moon and smiled to himself. He imagined her standing next to him in the waves. "what am I thinking, I've never been in love before!" He thought to himself. Finally he walked back to the boulder. He saw Peppermint sound asleep on the shimmering sand. His heart tingled again as he watched her sleeping so sweetly there. He felt a soft spot in his heart opening up for her.. and he knew that this must be love!
Peppermint ;
The cold breeze of the ocean swept over Mint's body as she slept, it chilled her. Mint was fast asleep, dreaming. 'Mint felt Percy's beautiful tail twine with hers as they stood together in the cold water, watching the moon rise higher in the sky. Mint glanced at Percy, to find he was looking at her intently. His gaze sent yet another shiver through her, waking her.' The moon was high in the sky, casting a shimmering glow on the beach. Mint slowly stood, the day's events flooding back on her. She guessed it was about 4 o' clock at night, and decided not to go back to sleep. Mint waded in the water to wash of the caking layers of sand plastered to her right side. A glint of blue flashed from behind the boulder Percy disappeared behind. Mint thought one thing, 'Percy.'
Percy ;
Percy watched the mare all night, then at around 4 o clock, Peppermint woke up. She glanced his direction and he quickly ducked behind the boulder. He decided to move away from there.. but that was practically where he lived. He didn't want to go out and demand her to leave. he didn't own the ocean. Besides, he wanted her to be happy. He galloped into the ocean nearby and decided to spend the morning underwater, thinking about her.
Peppermint ;
Mint tossed her head underwater, and flung it up, sending water droplets sparkling through the air. She heard a splash, and turned her face towards the boulder, hoping to see Percy. Her ears swiveled to see where it came from, she couldn't see Percy or anything else anywhere. Mint slid out of the water and trotted back to the jungle. She trotted for a few minutes, then reached a small pond, where she drank her fill of the clear water. A twig snapped, and Mint threw up her head, water dripping from her muzzle. A tiger emerged from the undergrowth. Mint had heard of these feral cats eating horses. Mint threw her head up and whinnied, "Percy!", Mint ran as fast as she could away from the pond towards the ocean.
Percy ;
Percy was underwater near the shore when he heard the faint sound of neighing from the surface. He swam swiftly to surface and peered at the shore. He saw Peppermint emerge into the clearing and smelled feline. He saw a flash of orange in the trees and knew there was a tiger. He knew he was safe in the water, but what about Mint? He sprang from the water and galloped towards her. "Come with me!" He said. She looked shaky and scared, but followed him. He led her up a narrow path and to a cliff over the ocean. "They can't reach us here." He said as he stood there with sweat dripping off of his coat.
Peppermint ;
Mint was terrified as she felt the tiger's breath close on her hooves. She saw Percy emerge from the water, and followed him to a cliff top, it had a beautiful view of the ocean. Mint's legs shook, and her breath came in shallow gulps. Percy looked at her, but said nothing. His beautiful eyes once again sent that jolt of lightning through her, but Mint was just a little more used to it. Mint gulped, and forced her self to stop shaking. "Thank you so much, Percy," Mint said shakily. Her stomach was in knots, and her head hurt. Percy had said it was save up there, so she laid down, the cold stone was refreshing as it touched Mint's hot body.
Percy ;
After Percy took Mint to the cliff, they stayed there for several hours without much talking. Finally Percy said it was safe to leave. He didn't want to act like he liked her to much, so he said: "Well.. I guess I'll see you around." He looked at her one more time and wondered if she'd be safe. She was so small, and he just wanted to take her with him to be safe. He didn't even know where she was from.. but the nerves came back and he decided to leave. Looking over the cliff, he decided to jump into the water below. He had done it many times before, and wasn't worried this time. He turned and leaped off of the cliff and landed into the ocean below.
Peppermint ;
Percy told Mint it was safe to leave, so she stood up and was about to say goodbye when Percy said, "I guess I'll see you around," Mint nearly fell over the cliff, 'Oh my gosh, he wants to see me again!' Mint thought. His eyes gazed at her again, they were like big round pools of sea water, Mint found herself almost falling again. 'I wonder if he does like me, maybe he hates me...' Mint thought, start to get nervous. She watched as Percy turned and jumped off the cliff. This time Mint did fall. Though, thankfully, she landed inches from the edge of the rocks. She scrambled to the edge of the cliff, and looked down. She saw Percy's reflection underwater. Mint freaked out, not thinking at all, not even a bit, and raised her legs and jumped. Over the edge. Into the water.
Percy ;
Percy landed in the water with a large splash that tingled his skin. The water washed over him and he swam to the bottom of the reef. He stood there closing his eyes for a minute, trying to figure out his feelings. When he opened them again he saw another horse drifting through the water. Is that.. Peppermint? He thought to himself. He hurried over to her. She had passed out. Percy freaked out and rushed to get her to the surface. "I've put her life in danger, what was I thinking!" He dragged her onto the sand and waited. She finally took a breath. Percy sighed a sigh of relief. She was alive! He rushed back into the water before she woke up.
Peppermint ;
The wind ruffled Mint's mane as she sped down to the water, as the water got closer, she was beginning to have second thoughts on jumping off the cliff. Mint smacked the water hard, and everything went black. The sun was hot on Mint's ocean - soaked skin. She raised her head and looked down the unfamiliar beach. 'Percy must have brought me here,' Mint thought. She scanned the ocean for the familiar blue stallion gliding through the ocean, but saw no sign of him. Mint stood up and shook her self off, and set out into the water towards the jungle. After a few minutes of trotting through the shallow water, Mint came across the boulder Percy hid behind the other night. Assuming he came there often, she waited for him.
Percy ;
Later that night, Percy came back up to the surface. He saw Peppermint standing on the beach like she was waiting for somebody. "Maybe she's waiting for me.." He thought to himself, but that couldn't be. But then again, it did seem like she might like him.. he sighed and decided to face his fears. He swam to the shore and whinnied a hello to Peppermint.
Peppermint ;
After waiting through the day, nightfall came. Peppermint saw Percy approaching, and she got a shiver down her spine. He whinnied a friendly hello to her, and Peppermint returned the hello. Waiting for him to come closer, she could tell Percy wanted and explanation as to why she was here. Sighing, Mint explained herself, "Why did I pass out when I hit the water and you didn't? That's my first question for you, I have a lot more. That's why I am here, you can send me away, though," Mint said, once again finding it difficult to speak in front of Percy, much less to him.
Percy ;
Peppermint questioned Percy about his ability to breath underwater. "Well.. my mother once told me that my father was an underwater horse god..so I guess that's why." He let out a nervous laugh when she said she had a lot of questions to him. "I have a question for you too. How did you get here? Where are you from? I've never seen you here before, and I've been here ever since I was born!" He realized he had said more than he had ever said to her before, and looked away.
Peppermint ;
'An underwater horse god?' Mint thought, "So you can breathe.. underwater?" Mint asked incredulously. "You've been here a long time, then! Well, I'm just passing through. I belong to a herd a few days travel north of here. I am their Healer Horse, so I can to retrieve special vines and leaves to make medicines," Mint explained. "Do any other horses live here? Do you live alone?" Mint asked Percy, hoping he wouldn't quite pick up on the direction of the questions. She watched as he looked away with a nervous look in his eye. 'I guess he is as nervous as I am,' Mint thought.
Percy ;
"Yes.. I can breathe underwater." Percy said chuckling. She asked him if he lived alone. He was a little startled by the question. "Oh.. well yes. I never really met any other horses until you came along." He realized that he was looking at her and hurriedly looked away. "So you'll have to leave soon?" He said, trying to hide the disappointment. He had just started to fall for her and now she may have to leave! His heart heart fell.
Peppermint ;
Mint perked her ears when he said he lived alone. His eyes fell upon her again, and she melted inside, this time there was no electricity down her spine. He looked away quickly, and the small moment was gone. Percy asked if she was going to leave soon, and she saw he was a little disappointed at the thought. "No, no!" Mint rushed to say, "I, uh, can extend my stay, unless you want me gone?" Mint said, making sure that it really was disappointment she had seen in his eyes. She realized that if Percy didn't love her like she loved him, her heart would break when she left,'What if I lose him?' Mint thought.
Percy ;
Percy's heart filled with relief when she said she could stay. "I don't want you to stay if you need to be somewhere else. But yes! I wan't you to stay." He blurted out then blushed. "I could always show you around." He asked kindly.
Peppermint ;
When Percy said that he wanted Mint to stay, Mint relaxed completely. She could tell he was embarrassed, but Mint thought it was kind of adorable. "Yeah, I'd like if you showed me around. Thanks Percy," Mint replied. 'I wonder how I should ask if he likes me...?'
Percy ;
The next day, Percy showed Mint around the land. He took her to some of his favorite spots: several beaches, a large lake in the jungle, a cliff in the forest, and then finally a top secret place he had never told anyone about. It was one of his favorite places to be: a little pool in the middle of the jungle, with waterfalls streaming into it. The waters were clear and dark, shimmering with blues, purples, and greens. Mint and Percy stood in the small lake and nobody spoke. They stood there admiring the peace and beauty of spot.
Peppermint ;
Mint listened to the crashing of the waterfalls on the beautiful dark water. Closing her eyes, she thought about everything that had happened today. Mint had never seen a more beautiful place to live. The waterfalls were calming as they bubbled and foamed. The silence was very peaceful, just Mint and Percy standing there, together. Percy had said no one else knew about this place, when he did, Mint's heart had stopped dead. Mint opened her eyes to see Percy watching the waterfalls, his beautiful Blue body surrounded by the mist as it swirled around him, the waterfalls seemed to be whispering to Percy. Percy's sea green eyes turned back towards Mint, and she shut her eyes so that he wouldn't see her watching him. Mint felt his beautiful eyes watching her, and she slowly opened hers to find that Percy had moved closer to her, and his eyes were fixed intently on her. Mint's heart skipped a beat, and the world stopped.
Percy ;
As Percy and Mint stood in the shimmering waterfall together, he couldn't help but gaze at her. She was so fragile and sweet, she needed someone to look after her in this world. He couldn't help but think about how his life would change and how much brighter it would be with her in it. He needed to find a way to tell her that he liked her.. but what if she didn't like him back? He didn't know what to say..
Peppermint ;
As Mint looked into Percy's eyes, the light shone through the trees, reflecting off the water, lighting up shimmering droplets of mist in the air as it flew around the two. The sun shone on Percy and made him shine a brilliant blue. Mint looked into his eyes and saw his soul, she knew he loved her, and she loved him too. Percy was alone and always was, until Mint, Mint had felt the same too. Mint had never thought she could love, but now, her life would never be complete without Percy. Keeping in mind how Percy was when it came to showing affection, Mint simply stepped through the shimmering water and nuzzled Percy's neck. Mint felt her heart expand, and felt warm inside.
Percy ;
All was quite in the waterfall until Mint suddenly reached forward and nuzzled Percy's neck. His heart seemed to take a giant leap and he froze for a split second when he realized what was happening. His heart melted and he nuzzled her back. He let out a sigh. He knew then that he didn't have to tell her that he loved her, because here they where, knowing that they knew they loved each other. The sky seemed to open up and stream sunlight on his world. They stood there in the soft blue light of the waterfall, their image reflecting off of the crystal clear water. Percy couldn't be happier looking into Mints soft hazel eyes in the cool glimmering pool.
Peppermint ;
Percy laid his head on Mint's back. Mint felt her world lift up and melt away, all worries, fears, everything. Everything was right. Percy didn't hold back, neither did Mint. They loved each other, and they both knew it. The sun shined brighter, and a bird sung it's song, the waterfalls whispered their unspoken words, and the wind whistled through the trees. A gentle breeze blew through Mint's mane, whispering, "Tell him,". Mint stepped back, gently breaking their embrace. She looked into Percy's beautiful melting eyes, and Mint knew. They were both ready. "I love you, Percy," Mint whispered, her lips twitching into a beautiful smile, and her beautiful hazel eyes sparkled.
Percy ;
They had stood there nuzzling each other for a little while when Peppermint whispered to Percy. "I love you." She said, her eyes twinkling and her smile sparkling. Percy didn't hold back. He lay his head onto her neck and whispered into her mane "I love you too." That was the first time he had said that to someone in a long time. Birds flew overhead, the sun streamed through the leaves down on them, and the soft gurgling of the water made this moment perfect. For that one moment, everything was perfect.
Peppermint ;
Percy whispered into Mint's mane, "I love you,". Mint's heart warmed, and she smiled as they continued nuzzling each other. The moment was perfect, they just stood there, as the world moved around them, it was just them. Together. Mint closed her eyes and let her breathing match his, and drifted into thought of him coming back to her herd with her, and them having a beautiful little foal. Mint thought back to her Healer Horse position, she was devoted to it, but she loved Percy. Mint didn't know if Percy would come with her, she knew she should ask, but she didn't want to shatter the fragile moment. A rock fell into the water from a small cliff off the waterfall, and sent drops of water sparkling over their heads. Mint and Percy looked up and watched the magical water droplets sparkle over them. Mint was overwhelmed with her love for him, and rushed forward and curled her head around his strong neck in an embrace. She looked down and saw the rippling water, with both of them reflected. Mint sighed. This was perfection.
Percy ;
Peppermint reached forward and held Percy in an embraced. Percy was overcome by his love for her, and nuzzled her again. He knew she would have to go back to her herd, but he tried to push that out of his mind. He wouldn't let that ruin a moment like this. He thought of the wonderful life they could have here. They could even have a foal! He thought about it.. would it have its mothers eyes, maybe his blue dapples with its mothers green sparkles? The slow current in the pool swirled around his feet and the waterfall sprayed water that reflected rainbows. Finally he told her. "Peppermint, I want you to stay here with me."
Peppermint ;
They stood in their embrace for a magical few minutes. Percy broke the silence by saying, "Peppermint, I want you to stay here with me." Mint's heart dropped. She lifted her head to meet Percy's eyes. Her eyes spoke for her, they were filled with sorrow and love. "Percy, I..." Mint couldn't find words, she struggled but managed to say, "I must go back to my herd, but I love you," Mint said, her heart strings pulling. How could she be asked to choose between her herd and her love? Mint buried her muzzle in Percy's mane, and silently wept, knowing that she had to go back, leaving Percy behind. For a moment the thought flickered in Mint's mind, 'Maybe he'd.. he'd come back with me?', but reasoning caught up to Mint, and her heart tightened.
Percy ;
Percy waited for Peppermints answer. "Percy.."I must go back to my herd, but I love you." Percy didn't know what to say, his heart fell like a sinking stone. 'Of course, she can't leave her herd for me,' He thought. But he knew he couldn't go with her..could he? This was his home, and who knew if her horses would except him..
Peppermint ;
Mint blocked everything else, she knew, though, that Percy had stayed silent. His jaws hadn't moved, and were still firmly placed on her neck. Mint knew this was his home, and that he thrived here and loved it here, she couldn't take him from that. 'This is for him, not me,' Mint said to herself silently. Withdrawing from their embrace, Mint looked him squarely in the eyes, and felt tears prickling behind her glassy eyes, threatening to fall down her face. "I guess," Mint started, her voice cracking, "this is goodbye?". Mint's tears suddenly burst from her, and she ended up bawling. Mint whipped around, spraying water on Percy and galloped off, heading for the cliff she and Percy jumped off of. When she reached the cliff, her legs were burning, and Mint lay down and cried herself to sleep as she watched the moon crawl up the sky.
Percy ;
Mint looked up at Percy, a tears glistening in her green eyes. "I guess..this is goodbye." Percy didn't want to cry either, but his eyes burned and a huge lump was stuck in his throat. He couldn't even say anything because of it. Mint turned and ran, spraying him in the face with water. Its coldness ran down his face with the few tears he shed. He stood in the pool until night fell, and the moon reflected in the blue water. Even though he had only met her a few days ago, he couldn't even imagine going on with life without her. But it must be too late..she was probably already on her way back to her herd.
Peppermint ;
The cool breeze buffeted Mint. The rock was shockingly cold underneath her stomach. Mint's eyelids fluttered as she woke. She extended her slender legs, and stood. She shook herself thoroughly and then trotted down the mountain towards the water. When she reached the water, she took a cooling drink. The chill of the water cleared her mind, and she vaugly remembered what had happened between her and Percy the night before. "I must find him," She thought to herself, sniffing the wind. Setting off towards the boulder behind which Percy had sort of "lived", hoping with all her heart she would find him there.
Percy;
Percy was sound asleep under the trees near the oceans when he sensed something. Jerking awake, he immediately thought: 'Peppermint?' But then he remembered what happened yesterday, and sadness filled his heart. It had rained last night, after Mint left him, and his mane was still wet from the rainwater. He sighed and rested his head on the soft sand. Suddenly he heard the sound of hooves coming from the large boulder farther a bit away from him. He saw a horse looking around the boulders, and then looked away again. 'Wait? A horse?! Is it Peppermint?' He thought. He started cantering towards the horse, and when he saw the green stripes across her neck, he knew it was Peppermint. He slowed, not wanting to startle her. "Peppermint?" He said softly.
Peppermint;
The rainy sandy mush sloshed underneath Peppermint's hooves as she got close to the huge rock. "Percy?", she gently called, in case he was sleeping. She made a full round around the boulder, then stopped to look around to see if she could find his blue coat in the water. "Peppermint?", a fimiliar voice called. Mint's heart dropped, and she turned her head towards the voice. Her eyes fell upon Percy's beautiful, yet wet, blue coat standing there before her. Her heart swelled, and she rushed forwards towards Percy. Mint stretched up so that she could get her dainty head on his withers as she attempted to hug Percy. "I'm so, so sorry I ran off," Mint said, as a warm tear trickled down her delicate face. "Could you ever forgive me?" Mint asked as she withdrew from their hug to look into his beautiful blue eyes.
Percy;
Peppermint raced towards Percy, and gave him a huge hug. Percy's heart melted into a thousand tiny little pieces, and he felt like he would burst at the thought of parting with her forever. "I'm so, so sorry I ran off." Peppermint cried into his mane. Percy took a step back and stared deep into her soft, gentle, beautiful green eyes. Everything about her was so..perfect. "No, it's my fault, I'm so very sorry Mint." Percy said very softly. He reached out and gently nuzzled her cheek. The early morning sun reflected off of her glittery green stripes, and the waves crashed on the beach near them. Everything seemed so perfect right now, Percy didn't ever want it to stop.
Peppermint;
"No, Percy, it's completely my fault, I should've never hesitated, because I knew the first moment I saw you that you were my true love, Percy," Mint replied, her eyes threatening to release a flood of tears as she gazed into his perfect blue face. She knew that in her heart, there were to be sacrifices if both of them were to be forever together, but as she gazed into his lagoon - colored eyes with the waves crashing behind his handsome face. As she looked at him, her heart fluttered, and she knew that now was the time to ask him, "Percy, would you come back to me with my herd?" Mint shyly asked. The moment was so perfect, the sun reflected the water in both of their eyes, and they.. knew.
Percy;
Percy tried to hold the words back as he replied, "Peppermint-you are my first and only true love." He reached out and nuzzled her again. The words Peppermint said next shot into Percy, and he didn't know what to say at first. He looked back at the ocean, his home, and swallowed. How could he ever leave here? But this was Mint, and he had never loved another horse as he loved her. "Mint.." His voice faded off. "Mint..I'll go with you." Percy knew then that he was willing to go anywhere in the world as long as Peppermint was by his side. Everything was so perfect, and suddenly he reached out and lipped the crest of her neck. He then stepped back, unsure.
Peppermint;
Mint's eyes widened in surprise when Percy said he would go. His muzzle tickled her neck as he lipped it gently. Mint watched as Percy stepped back, but she perked her ears and used her eyes to tell him that it was okay. They were together now, and affection was not to be ashamed of. Mint stepped forward towards him, and started gently grooming his back. The salty tang of his sea-soaked coat surprised her, and she sneezed. She looked up at Percy and melted inside, there was so much love in his eyes, "Shall we rest today? It is at least a three day journey back," Mint nickered to Percy lovingly. Folding her legs, Mint plopped down comfortably on the sand, and let her thoughts take over her, 'I wonder if we will ever have a foal? I wonder what Naos will think,' Mint thought blissfully.
Percy;
Peppermint didn't seem to mind when Percy lipped her neck, so he quickly relaxed and whuffed her softly. She stepped forward to groom him and sneezed at the smell of seawater in his coat. When Peppermint lay down to rest, Percy walked over to the waters edge and gently pawed the water with his hooves. He would miss being away from the ocean, a part of himself, but he knew he'd be back here someday soon. He lay down in the water and rolled around, cleaning his coat off in the cold, thrilling seawater. He stood up and shook himself off. He turned around and saw he had sprayed seawater all over Peppermint. He stopped, but then his eyes started to sparkle at the look on Peppermints face. He let out a small laugh. The smell of the saltwater and knowing his love was beside him got him in high spirits. He darted and pranced around Peppermint, whinnying.
Peppermint;
Peppermint watched in wonder at Percy's "dance" as he pranced around her happily. Mint stood up, and reared and pawed the sky as she joined in Percy's excited prancing. After a few minutes, she collapsed in exhaustion, and laughed happily. Mint rolled around in the sand to itch her back, then stood to shake it off. Slowly, Mint walked over to Percy, and laid her head on his back. She took a small sniff, and something lingered in the back of her mind, but she pushed it away to just enjoy their happy, quiet moment together.
Percy;
Percy splashed Peppermint again, and they continued cantering and prancing around the beach. He admired her playfulness and cheeriness. He knew he would have never been so happy without her. Finally they both stopped, exhausted. Percy sank down to his knees and lay in the soft white sand, breathing heavily. He stretched his legs and shook his mane, feeling very sleepy. He looked up at Peppermint, hoping she was tired too and want to take a nap.
Peppermint;
Peppermint slumped to her knees, and laid her head across Percy's soft, ocean-soaked back. She breathed in his sweet, salty scent and sighed. Mint felt her heart would burst with happiness, as she drifted into a dream filled sleep. Her sleep was slightly disturbed, but she relaxed, and her sleep was filled with dreams of Percy and her playing on the beach, without a care in the world. Orange flickered in front of her eyes, and Mint snapped awake, and Mint looked lovingly at Percy, and licked his cheek gently.
Percy;
Percy sighed and drifted off to sleep, and Peppermints head lying on his back made him feel very warm. His dreams were full of him and Peppermint together, galloping the beaches and forest, standing together in the sunset, and standing in the soft, blue lit pool of water hidden in the forest. When he finally woke up, it was starting to grow dark, and there was a beautiful orange and pink sunset over the ocean. Percy rose slowly to his feet, not wanting to wake Peppermint if she was still asleep.
Peppermint;
Mint felt Percy slip out from under her, and she lifted her head to watch him. She made a slow, loving guttural nicker to him, as he walked off towards the sea. Mint slowly stood, and walked over to Percy. "Would you like to get an early start? Or would you rather have more time to say goodbye?" Mint gently asked Percy. Mint lowered her head, and raised her long tail, and trod into the ocean, then looked back at Percy, beckoning him to take a small swim with her, with a strange look in her eye.
Percy;
Percy didn't even have to say anything, he and Peppermint could communicate with their eyes..and she knew what he wanted to do. He was slightly nervous of leaving tomorrow, and meeting Peppermints herd. What would they think of him? Percy thought nervously, his coat tingling. Peppermint nickered to him, beckoning him to the water. He wondered what she was thinking..she had a weird, mysterious look in her eyes. He trotted over to the water and stepped through it towards her.
Peppermint;
Mint waited as Percy approached her in the water. The waters parted as Percy approached Mint. Mint waded further in the water, and powerfully kicked her legs against the strong current. She could feel from the waves lapping over her back that Percy was behind her. Mint ducked her head under the water, and brought it up in a flinging motion, spraying droplets all over Percy and her. As they both waded out into the ocean, a huge wave headed towards them, Mint whipped her head around towards Percy, hoping that Percy had an idea as to how to escape the wave. A strange sense of peace washed over Mint as she looked into Percy's eyes. Then the wave crashed into Mint's back. The salty water filled her lungs, and she couldn't breathe. Her leg struck something hard, and she blacked out.
Percy;
As Percy watched Peppermint go under the huge wave, another huge wave of panic hit him. "Peppermint!" He neighed, fear ringing in his ears. He quickly dove under the water and struggled to see in the dim lit water. He couldn't see anything, let along Peppermint. "I'm going to loose her..loose her.." He thought to himself, his emotions going crazy. He forced himself to call down and focus. Then he remembered his tattoo. He had never been told its power, but he did know it glowed in the dark if he focused very hard. Closing his eyes, he breathed, forcing his heartbeat to slow down. Opening his eyes again, he saw the tattoo was glowing and casting a soft blue glow all around him. He looked down and saw Peppermint, lying on the soft seaweed and sand on the bottom of the ocean several feet below. Using his long, powerful legs, he swam down as fast as he could towards her. He threw himself under her and lifted her up on his back. Swimming extremely fast but carefully so that Peppermint wouldn't fall off, Percy got out of the impact zone and onto the shore, far from the waves. Percy lay Peppermint gently on the sand, then stood over her. She lay still, not moving at all. Percy swallowed, fearing the worst. "Peppermint?.." Tears ran down his cheeks as he waited for a sign that she was still alive.
Peppermint;
Peppermint saw light.. strangely blue light. Mint's heart fell, 'I have died,' Mint thought. Sorrow gripped her heart, and she shut her eyes tight to try to block the pain, and soon lost herself in sorrow, and passed out.
Mint heard weeping, she was hot, there was sand under her. She slowly flickered open her eyes. Her heart warmed to see a blue coat beside her, keeping her warm. Somehow she was burning hot down in her legs. Mint lifted her head, and felt Percy tense next to her, but her head flopped back down. He head was pounding, and her leg was burning, "Percy..?" Mint cried out softly. The pain in her leg was making her head hurt worse then she thought possible. Mint slowly closed her eyelids while waiting for Percy to talk to her.
Percy;
Percy heard Peppermints weak voice cry out. He quickly turned around and trotted towards her. "Peppermint, your okay!" He said, still shook up, but a sense of relieve filled his heart. She groaned, and Percy became aware that she had hurt her leg. "Peppermint, it's okay..I'm here." He gently spoke to her. "Just stay still, I need to check your leg." Percy took a deep breath of the fresh ocean air, then leaned down to examine her leg. 'She said she's a medicine horse..she would probably know what to do.' Percy thought to himself, but knew he'd have to do this on his own. When he took a closer look her delicate, soft brown leg, he saw a deep gash near the canon bone. A piece of seaweed was caught in it and wrapped around her leg, causing it to go numb and burn the cut. Percy knew he had to get it out fast, so he spoke gently to Peppermint and asked her to stay calm. Carefully, using his teeth and hooves, he slowly pulled the tangled piece of seaweed out of the wound. Peppermint winced and squealed softly, and Percy did his best not to hurt her. Finally he got it out and cleaned the rest of the wound out. He lay down beside her and rested his head on her neck, comforting her.
Peppermint;
Percy started removing whatever it was that was in Mint's leg, though she new it was helping her, the pain was excruciating. Mint couldn't help herself from squealing in pain. The pain of her leg started to block her vision, and she blacked out again into a fitful sleep.
Mint's eyes opened, and the first thing she did was think of her leg. Looking back at it, she guessed it was swollen twice the size it would regularly be. Mint's head had backed off from hurting, so Mint decided to try to asses her wound. Looking over at the sleeping Percy, Mint thought, 'He must've been up all night..'. Mint struggled to sit up to were she could properly look at her wound. 'It's definitely infected,' Mint thought with one look at the puss oozing out of it, and the blood and sand caking around it's edges. Mint sniffed it, and could tell it was running a fever, 'Good,' she thought, 'it's only an infection from the sea weed,' Mint concluded in relief. Mint softly nudged Percy, attempting to wake him. "Could you go get some cobwebs, and pond-water soaked moss for me?" Mint asked him gently.
Percy;
Percy's head felt groggy from lack of sleep, but he quickly rose to his feet to help Peppermint when he woke up. He was shocked at how bad the wound looked, and realized he must not have treated it well enough. At Mint's instructions, he quickly galloped into the woods in search of pond moss and cobwebs. Percy sniffed the air, trying to find the smell of pond water. He smelled something to the north and headed that way. He came across a shallow pond/swamp and walked to the waters edge. He searched and sniffed around until he came upon a clump of moss on an overhanging ledge. He tore it off with his teeth and brought it over to the waters edge, soaking it while he searched for cobwebs. He found three of them in a clump of tall, wet grass near the pond. He didn't know how to carry the cobwebs back, so he grabbed one with his mouth and another with his ears. He raced back to the pond to grab the moss, then cantered back to the beach, cobwebs and moss hanging from his ears and lips.
Peppermint;
Mint searched the trees for Percy. A blue shape with cobwebs and dripping moss came galloping towards Mint. Mint snorted, and started laughing at how silly poor Percy looked. "Thank you," Mint said to Percy, stifling a laugh. Mint set to work cleaning off the caked blood with moss, and then wrapped her wound with cobwebs. The cool water from the moss felt good on her infected leg. Mint stretched up, and made an attempt to stand, only to find herself slumping down back into the hot sand. "Percy, may I use your shoulder?" Mint called off to Percy, hoping that he wouldn't decline her trying to stand on her bad leg.
Percy;
Percy could sense Peppermint was laughing at him, and was slightly embarrassed, but happy she was feeling better. He quickly helped her up and supported her small frame on his blue shoulder. She shook slightly, trying to keep her balance, and he shuffled to support her leg more. "So.." He said softy, not sure of were to go. They certainly couldn't leave today to go to her herd. They stood there in silence for several moments, the sea spraying their faces and their manes streaming out in the wind.
Peppermint;
As Percy helped Mint stand, she grunted as she tried to use her stiff back leg. She leaned heavily on Percy's shoulder, and sighed. A gust of wind blew off the ocean, and it almost knocked Mint down. "So..," Percy started. Mint sighed, as the mist sprayed both of them. Mint lifted her nose to the wind, smelling moisture in the air. "There must be a storm coming," Mint stated absentmindedly, "We should probably get to some shelter," Mint said as another gust of wind blew their manes.
Percy;
"Hmm..shelter." Percy thought to himself, trying to remember a comfortable sheltered spot near the beach. He thought of a small cave near the back of the cliff and hills surrounding the beach. It was near the forest and protected by the cliff above it. To get to it they would have to climb up the trail near the cliff. It would be the only place safe from the storm or the waves that would soon be crashing up on the beach. "Peppermint, we need to get to a cave up there." Percy replied, nodding his head towards the top of the cliff. "Do you think you have enough energy to do it?"
He questioned her gently.
Peppermint;
Fire flashed before Mint's eyes when Percy mentioned a cave. Taking a deep breath, Mint gazed up at Percy. "I could try to make it there," Mint said softly, already regretting her decision. Mint's eyes glazed as she remembered her past... 'So.. Much.. Darkness, then fire and heat, and confusion,' Mint shook her head as Percy's voice brought her back to the present. "I'm sorry, did you say something?" Mint asked Percy.
Percy;
Percy looked down at Peppermint. 'Did she hear what I just said?' He repeated himself: "I said, we have to hurry. The storm is going to hit very soon now." They started walking down the beach towards the trail leading to the top of the cliff. Percy could feel the tension of Peppermints body and could sense something was wrong. "What's wrong? Is your leg okay?" He asked, but when he looked down he saw her soft green eyes looked troubled and distressed. "Peppermint..is everything okay?" He said, stopping.
Peppermint;
"Huh.. Um, yeah, my leg is fine," Mint replied, a bit unsettled. She realized that she had been walking blindly while being distracted with her past. Mint realized that Percy was only speaking out of concern. "I was just thinking," Mint said quietly. 'I guess I should tell him..' Mint thought. A pellet of rain dripped onto Mint's forehead, and she settled into a limping-trot with support of Percy.
Percy;
Percy tried to listen to Peppermint, but at the same time he was focusing on getting them to safety. "Peppermint, you have to tell me what's wrong." Percy said, worried. They were now on the trail and almost to the cave. The rain was beginning to pour, and the cold droplets soaked Peppermint and Percy's coats. The ocean below was churning and waves crashed on the beach, and thunder rumbled in the cloudy sky. Finally the reached the cave. It was surrounded by green plants, and the inside was smooth, grey, and had light coming into it from the opening. Percy led Peppermint to the back of the cave and lay her down gently. Now that they were safe, Percy asked Peppermint again: "So what's wrong?" He nuzzled her gently.
Peppermint;
Peppermint settled down in the back of the cold cave, then Percy asked, "So, what's wrong?" with a nuzzle. Sighing, Mint said, "Percy, I've been meaning to tell you this," Mint took a deep breath to begin her story. "When I was a really young filly, I lost both my parents," Mint started as she stared off into the mouth of the cave at the pouring rain. "We lived by a lake, in a small cave. My parents had gone off to look about, and it had started to rain then eventually started to pour really hard," Mint took a large breath. "I tried calling for my parents when the thunder started, but it was too loud," Mint said, starting to shake, "then..." Mint started, then her voice cracked and a tear rolled down her face. "Then, there was lightning, and it set the trees on fire, and there was just so much light, and heat, and fire.." Mint's voice trailed off as her tears got faster. "A stranger saved me from the cave an brought me to my herd, and I never saw my parents... after... that," Mint said through sobs. "I guess I'm just afraid of storms and caves, now," Mint softly said as she leaned her wet head on Percy's neck as her whole body shook with sobs.
Percy;
Percy was overcome by the sadness and despair in Peppermints voice. He felt horrible that he had ever led her to this cave and put her through that memory. She sobbed and buried her head in his mane, and he gently soothed her. 'Poor little Peppermint..' He kept thinking to himself, wishing the could somehow mend the damage in Peppermints heart. He had never known his father, but he did know that his father had immortal godly powers, hence why Percy could survive underwater. He vaguely remembered his mother, but she had left him when he was very young. That was how he ended up living in the ocean and on this beach for the last thirteen years. He continued comforting Peppermint until her breathing became calmer and the sobbing ceased. She drifted off into a restless slumber, but finally she seemed calmer now. She slept late until that night, but the rain showed no sign of stopping yet. Percy stayed up all night watching over her and resting his head on her neck. He drifted off to sleep for a little while, but he awoke early in the morning. Outside of the cave there was still a small fog and mist in the air, but the sunlight was streaming gently down through the opening of the cave.
Peppermint;
Mint fell asleep sobbing into Percy's mane. She found peace in her dreams of them galloping across a crystal clear beach. Mint groggily raised her head from her sleep as she looked on at Percy looking at the sea below, with the wind blowing in his deep blue tail. Sighing, Mint turned to her leg and started to lick off the crusty blood on the edges of the stiff gash. Mint nickered softly to Percy to tell him she was up. She started to get up, testing her stiff hind leg, but crumpled to the floor awkwardly. 'Ouch!' Mint thought as her leg hit the stone floor. "Percy, would you please help me stand up?" Mint said softly to Percy.
Percy;
Percy was standing outside of the cave looking over the ocean, the wind billowing through his mane and tail. The strong smell of the saltwater tingled his nostrils and made him feel so alive. Spray from the waves crashed against the rocks and caught the suns rays, glistening like a thousand little diamonds. Percy herd Peppermint call out to him and he quickly trotted back into the cave to help her stand up. He supported her weight and they slowly walked out the mouth of the cave into the dazzling sunlight of the morning.
Peppermint;
Percy helped Mint get up and they made their way to the mouth of the cave. Mint could tell that Percy would miss this place, it was so beautiful. Mint breathed into his mane and blew out softly on his neck. Mint shuffled her muzzle across his neck in affection. "Shall we leave today, Percy? My leg is fine once I'm on my hooves," Mint asked Percy gently as they surveyed the ocean. Mint's ears flicked to pick up sounds from the sea below.
Percy;
Percy walked over to the waters edge, put his head underwater and flung it back out, spraying water droplets all over himself. He took another look at the ocean then turned back to Peppermint. "Yes..we should leave today." He said. He walked over to support her as they started walking back up the beach. He turned to her when they reached the edge of the forest. He looked over at Peppermint, waiting for her to show him what direction the herd was in.
Peppermint;
When they reached the forest's edge, Mint whuffed scents into her nostrils, searching the air for the fimiliar scent of Crowhawk. Mint let out a loud whinny that echoed off the trees and into the distance. "This way," Mint said as she turned right slightly and led on the confused Percy. "I guess I should explain that back there?" Mint asked playfully as they made their way further away from Percy's home. Before Percy could reply, Mint took a sharp turn left and started to trot unevenly, but quickly.
Percy;
Percy tried to keep up with Peppermint, but he kept getting more and more confused on what she was doing. She started trotting quickly and unevenly, and Percy struggled to follow her. He sniffed the air, trying to distinguish what Peppermint was smelling. "Peppermint?" He said, still trying to follow her. "Do you want to explain what's going on to me?" He asked her, completely confused.
Peppermint;
Mint stopped her awkward trot and looked at Percy. Sighing, Mint said, "I thought we could visit the waterfalls one more time," Mint said eagerly to Percy. Still getting quizzical, though not as confused, looks from Percy. Mint nuzzled Percy's neck, "I thought we could go to the place where we found out we both loved each other, just one last time," Mint softly said. She turned around, and continued her soft trot, with her tail up high, a huge grin on her muzzle, and a beautiful sparkle in her eye.
Percy;
Percy smiled at Peppermint when she said she wanted to go to the waterfalls. Now that he knew were she was going they both loped in stride to the waterfall. The small lake looked beautiful in the soft sunlight, and the entire pool glowed an electric blue purple color. The waterfall created little rainbows over the water. Percy stepped into the water near the water, soaking his mane under the streaming water. The water was deliciously cool and refreshing, just like the day they told their love for each other. Percy looked up at Peppermint, inviting her to come into the water with him.
Peppermint;
When they got to the waterfalls, it was just as Mint remembered it, beautiful, crystal-clear waters with light droplets shimmering through the waterfalls. Percy dipped his head underwater, Mint mimicked his gesture, and dipped her elegant head under the purple-blue water, and brought her head up quickly. Mint dipped her body underwater, and let the water wash over her back and through her mane and tail. Mint dove deeper, and pumped her leg in an attempt to swim underwater, and came out of the water next to Percy, under the waterfalls. "This place is just so beautiful," Mint exclaimed softly, still pumping her stiff legs to keep herself afloat. "So, Percy," Mint started loudly over the roar of the waterfalls, "do you have any family close around here you want to say goodbye to before we leave?" Mint asked him as the light reflected through the waterfalls and shone on Percy's deep blue coat. For the first time in a few days, Mint felt the fimiliar jolt of lightning through her heart, as she lost herself in his deep blue eyes.
Percy;
Percy swam through the water a few feet away from the falls so that he could talk to Peppermint without yelling. "Well, Peppermint..I don't have any family around here." He look into her eyes and decided to tell her his story. "I was born here, on the beach. I never knew my father, but my mother once told me he was an immortal horse with godly powers. She never told me what they were, but I know they were water powers. The only thing I remember from my father is my tattoo..he gave it to me when I was a newborn." Percy looked down at the shimmering blue tattoo on his shoulder, thinking. "I never figured out what it's for, but I've tried to." Percy swallowed hard. "One day..the sky was blue, but everything was extremely still, and I could sense danger. Then..there was a huge wave on the horizon. My mom didn't see it, but I did. I ran to try to find her, but I couldn't. I ran up the top of the cliff and hid under the leaves and plants. I was so scared, but I lay there and curled myself into a ball, not sure of what to do. But the cliff wasn't high enough and the wave swept over me and I slid over the smooth rock and off the cliff. I fell all the way into the ocean and waves below. I thought I was going to die, and when I woke up a while later, I though I was dead. But I was awake..and I was laying on the floor of the ocean. That's when I found out I could live underwater. I went back to the shore to look for my mother..but I couldn't find her. I searched for days, but I couldn't find a trace of her." Percy felt a tear slide down his smooth cheek, and his heart felt heavy. "That day broke a part of me. I do remember another part of my childhood though. I believe I had a brother, but I can't remember. I just..know I do. I searched for him after my mother died, but I could never find him either. I still search for him sometimes, but I've always wondered why he hasn't come back to the beach." Percy looked up into the clouds. "But I know he's somewhere out there.." Percy looked back down at Peppermint. "Sorry, you're the first horse I've ever told that story too. I've been living by myself for about fourteen years now..until I met you." He smiled a little and nuzzled her neck affectionately, another tear rolling down his cheek and onto her mane.
Peppermint;
Percy's story tugged at Mint's thin heart strings. She felt sympathy for Percy, she knew what it was like to lose parents. Mint nuzzled Percy's thin, waterlogged skin. She felt a tear slide from his eyes and into her mane. She felt sympathy for him. She loved him. He trusted her to be the first one to tell his story to. She lipped his mane, relishing the taste of the saltwater in his mane. Mint licked his broad stallion face playfully and raised her leg to splash water on him playfully. Mint looked at his breathtaking blue face, and got lost in his eyes. She loved him. She was proud of it. Mint pushed her muzzle and forehead against Percy's face and muttered in her soft sing-song voice, "I love you so much Percy," Mint closed her eyes. They stood there. The waterfalls crashed around them. It. Was. Perfection.
Percy;
Percy gently nuzzled Peppermint as the cool water splashed over them. He then splashed her, a little sparkle in his eye. They started splashing each other happily in the crystal clear water. Percy reared up and placed both of his front hooves in the water, creating a huge splash. He trotted over to the calmer water to take a drink, panting heavily. He was glad he had told Peppermint his story, it made him feel more free. He felt soo happy standing in the magical waterfall with her. Percy gestured to Peppermint, asking her if she wanted a drink also.
Peppermint;
Mint's eyes sparkled playfully as they splashed each other. Mint again let a strange thought take over her, but pushed it away, and nodded to Percy that she would take a drink. Mint gulped the cold water, relishing the coldness of it on her throat. Mint raised her head and watched as Percy drank. He was so sexy. Whatever he did. Just... Mint sighed thinking about him. She swiped her tounge over her muzzle to scrape off the water that was dripping. Mint went around to Percy's side and hung her head over his neck, her eyes sparkled playfully.
Percy;
Percy gently nuzzled Peppermints soft, wet cheek. He reached down and touched her muzzle with his. They stood nose to nose, their soft muzzles touching. Everything about her was so beautiful and special, and everything she did just made him love her more. He sighed inwardly at the thought. Very slowly he reached out and nibbled the crest of her soft neck.
Peppermint;
Mint's heart skipped a beat and oxygen seemed to rush through her. Percy's lips tickled her neck, but she was okay with it. ( c; ) Mint reached her neck slowly forward and started to groom his withers softly. Mint nickered a low guttural nicker, as mares commonly do as a sign of being content. The water was very cold, and the waterfalls were extremely loud. Mint stopped grooming Percy for a moment to look down at her infected leg. She raised her leg (just imagine how this looks... XD) and started to lick it. The water was so cold, it was going numb. Mint giggled. It was actually kind of nice not to have her leg constantly throbbing. "Well, shall we be going now?" Mint asked, clearly excited about to looming journey ahead. Mint turned, and walked towards the bank, her tail lifted and in high spirits. Her eyes sparkled their sometimes mysterious sparkle. Soon Mint got out of the freezing cold water, and just stood there to let Percy say goodbye to his "secret place of waterfalls". Mint smiled as she watched him in his element (literally...), he was so happy and free. 'Is it wrong to take him away from this?' Mint began to wonder.
Percy;
Percy took one last look at the shimmering blue water swirling around his feet. The water was were he spent a lot of his time. It was a part of him, and he felt so free and alive in it. He could feel it and breathe it and sense it. He looked up and saw Peppermint standing on the shore, waiting for him. He slowly trotted through the freezing water to the shore. Stepping out of the water he shook his massive body of the cold water. He hoped there would be lakes were Peppermints herd was..
Peppermint;
Percy had shaken off the water droplets, and Mint giggled as the cold water droplets splattered on her back, and sent a chill through her frail body. She turned tail, and they trotted side by side towards the mountains ahead. Mint's long mane and tail was dragging the ground. She sighed, this long mane and tail are so annoying. While she was thinking about her locks of green and black hair, she wondered what Percy was thinking. Mint's hoof splashed in a puddle, and woke her from the haze she was in about wondering about Percy's complex thoughts.
"Percy, we are almost to the bottom of the mountain where there is a small overhang to shelter under," Mint shouted over her whithers. She sighed, somehow, it felt like they weren't as connected as they were. Mint slipped away into a dream again. Maybe tonight they could talk to each other again, and get all nervous about talking to each other, and losing themselves in each other's eyes. Mint again slipped away from her daydream.
"Sorry, Percy, what did you say, Hun?" Mint replied awkwardly as she slid in the dirt to a stop.
Percy;
Percy trotted down the path alongside Peppermint. They both traveled in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. The only sound was the occasional chirp of a bird or the sound of water droplets falling from the trees. This was the season rain showers at night were common, and Percy didn't mind the dampness and water drops falling on his coat at all: In fact he rather enjoyed it.
As Percy continued on beside Peppermint, he began to get carried away by his thoughts. He had never lived in a herd, but he could slightly figure out what the positions in herds were. Percy definitely knew that there was always a lead stallion. 'What will he think of me when he finds out I'm with Peppermint and in love with her?' Percy started to worry, but he relaxed thinking about how big he was compared to other stallions. 'But I won't fight him' Percy assured himself, not wanting to get in trouble. He jerked back to attention when he heard Peppermint say something about a shelter. He looked in the direction they were headed and sniffed the air. A sweet smell wafted into his nostrils, and he pricked his ears. He knew that smell..the delicious smell of fresh, damp and rich clover. He personally loved clover, but didn't find it much on the beach. Percy realized he was falling behind Peppermint, and thought about how they weren't talking. He missed the butterflies in his stomach. 'But we're both focused on our journey right now, when we get to the shelter we can talk.' He thought to himself. "I'm certain there is some clover and grass up ahead, near the shelter." He called out to her, trotting through the mud to so he was against her shoulder again.
Peppermint;
"Yes, Percy, I do think there is clover ahead!" Mint shouted to him excitedly with her nose in the air.
Mint's train of thought wandered once again, she was worried for Percy. He might not be welcomed by Naos. Mint smiled to herself, 'Yeka will definitely like him,' Mint thought to herself about her friend, and lead mare. Mint would have to be very careful when approaching Naos with a new stallion, after all, she had gone off for some herbs, and was coming back with a stallion! Wait! The herbs! Mint stopped dead in her tracks, spraying dirt from her fast transition from a smooth lope down to a stop. Mint wheeled around and sniffed the air. There it was! 'Marigold and Comfrey!' Mint thought happily as she plucked them carefully with her teeth and tucked them into her mane.
"Sorry, Percy, I just remembered is forgotten my herbs!" Mint said with a smile as she drifted away in thought. Mint's ears swiveled, navigating her way blindly while she thought.
Bonk! She ran into a stone. It was the cave. 'Ouch!' coursed its way through Mint's mind. Then she crumpled to the ground and passed out.
Percy;
Percy didn't expect Peppermints sudden crash and rushed to her side. Her body was limp and slumped against the smooth rock next to her. Percy tried not to panic and remained calm as he lifted her up over his shoulders and into the shelter of bushes and leaves. Percy gently lay her down on the soft moss and fallen leaves from the trees above. He was uncertain of what to do, but then he remembered the herbs Peppermint had picked. Percy knew they were for her herd but he hoped that they might help. He quickly retrieved the limp plants lying on the floor outside of the shelter and carried back to Peppermints side.
Percy swallowed when he saw the swollen, purple and red lump on Peppermints forehead. He ripped some of the damp moss up with his teeth and laid it beside the herbs. Carefully he took the plants and ground them into a powder with his hooves. He gently massaged them into the wound and then stripped the moss into pieces and wrapped it around Peppermints head. Percy lay down beside Peppermint and rested his head on the soft ground, hoping she would be okay and that he had treated her right.
Peppermint;
Mint had blacked out for quite a while, when she opened her eyes, she could see the deep blue night sky. She felt cold, dripping moss on her head. First she was confused, but she felt Percy's warm body next to her, he must've wrapped her forehead in moss. Mint tried to feel the pain under the moss, it was just a small bump, she would be fine. "Percy?" Mint asked to check to see if he was awake. He was so sweet to take care of her.
Percy;
Percy woke up and forgot were he was for a moment. The dark green foliage above partially blocked the late afternoon blue sky. He looked over at Peppermint and smiled lovingly at her. "You're awake!" He said, glowing. "How's your head?" Percy asked, scooting over closer to her to examine it. The lump had gone down considerably and was barely noticeable. Percy couldn't help but let out a small laugh. It was kinda funny when Peppermint dreamily bumped her head. He nuzzled her neck gently, glad she wasn't seriously injured this time. Percy's stomach gave a loud grumble, alerting him that he was hungry, and Percy gave Peppermint a sheepish look.
Peppermint;
Mint jolted awake from her drifting thoughts when Percy exclaimed at her. Mint looked down at Percy's sweet, loving, goofy face. Mint giggled at him, 'Wow, he is just so adorable.' "What are *italic*you*italic* looking at?" Mint asked playfully as she shouldered him playfully.
"Yes, my head is fine, thanks for your concern, dear," Mint said playfully to Percy. How she loved him. Mint realized it was afternoon time, they needed to get going, Percy had slept a tad bit too late. Mint licked his salty mane, in an attempt to straigthen his messy, sea-water-stiff hair.
Percy;
Percy got to his feet and stretched. 'I wonder how long I was asleep' he thought, thinking about how late it was getting. He could tell that Peppermint wanted to get going on their trip back to her herd. Peppermints tongue tickled Percy's neck as she ran it through his mane. He snorted and nuzzled Peppermint back, tickling her under her neck with his whiskers. "Do you want to eat for a bit, or be on our way?" He asked her, thinking about the clover near them and licking his lips.
Peppermint;
Mint saw Percy's tongue lick his blue lips. Mint laughed, "Alright, silly, we can get some of that clover out there."
Mint stood up and walked alongside Percy outside the overhang to the green patch of clovers. I sigh happily as I lower my cranium towards the greens, and lip the tasty three-leaved plant. I raise my head to see Percy happily munching away at the clovers. I laugh and raise my front legs in a rear, testing my stiff back leg. I land in the greens, heavily, and I drop down to roll in them. The clover cools my back and makes me feel like a foal again. I stand up, and I measure up Percy's height in my head, maybe I can jump over his back like my friends and I used to do, I start thinking to myself about my friends as a foal. I rear, and run towards Percy's side, then push off my still unstable hind legs, and soar over Percy's back, and land successfully in the clover on the other side. I smile at Percy playfully and prance around the field of clover.
Percy;
Percy happily munched down the clover, enjoying it's burst of flavor and freshness. Suddenly he felt a burst of air and a figure rush up to his side. He tossed his head up and saw Peppermint fly over his wide back. He snorted and laughed when he saw her come to a halt in the deep grass and clover. Percy ran his eyes over Peppermint, surprised that she could jump that high. He sighed. She was so incredible at everything.
Snorting again, Percy lifted his tail high and started a high kneed trot around Peppermint, smiling. Tossing his head, he looked at her and whinnied, a playful sparkle in his. Then took off in a gallop across the grass, is hooves pounded the greenery underfoot and the sun glimmering off his coat as the scenery flew by.
Peppermint;
As they broke into a fast-paced gallop, Mint looked over at Percy's large blue body. Mint let her mind wander, and she was again galloping blindly, supported by the wind rushing beside her, and Percy galloping next to her. Mint came slowly down to a stop, panting and breathing harshly. Mint gulped in air, her lithe body shaking, she was a small, dainty mare of Arabian-type build, she was meant for stamina, not speed. Mint laughed at the complex thoughts in her head. She was silly. (XD I love it) Mint waited for Percy to realize that Mint had fallen back, and for him to make his way back to her. Mint smiled, and decided to lay down in the green plush grass below her.
Percy;
Percy looked back and realized Peppermint was no longer following him. He turned a half circle and cantered back towards her lying in the grass. He slumped into the lush grass beside her, not one bit tired from the run. The blades of grass tickled his fetlocks and made him flinch slightly. Percy rolled onto his broad back and rolled around in the grass. The long blades of grass felt wonderful on back and sides and got rid of all his itches. He yawned and stretched, then lay on his belly in the grass and looked over at Peppermint happily.
Peppermint;
Mint and Percy smiled at each other as they faced each other sideways while laying on the grass. Mint giggled, "Percy, would you call me Mint or Pepper, my dear water lover?" Mint said with a grin. Mint stretched out her thin forelegs and poked Percy's legs playfully. Mint pulled herself closer to Percy and laid against him lightly and rested her small face on his shoulder, and let her long mane spread across his stomach and hindquarters. Mint's forelock lay on Percy's neck and tickled his neck gently.
Percy;
Percy gently blew Peppermints forelock off of her forehead and grinned. "Of course I can, my dear Mint!" He lipped a piece of grass and thought to himself. 'What's a nickname for me?' Percy was perplexed and stumped. "And you can just call me..Percy. He looked up at the sky and realized it was getting quite late. They had not done any traveling today. Percy got up and told Peppermint to stay were she was. He had ideas for a romantic dinner to gather before it got to dark. He started off at a gallop towards the nearby trees, searching for flowers and delicious herbs and plants for his surprise for Peppermint.
Peppermint;
"Okay, just don't be gone long, Percy!" Mint shouted to her blue lover. Mint laid there, completely still, trying to think up a nickname for Percy. There was nothing. Mint was usually creative with this kind of creativityness things (was avoiding saying "stuff" XD). Mint looked overhead at the blue sky with the white clouds and rolled over on her back to get a better view. Mint lay there looking at the clouds, trying to guess what they were. This was a fun game she and her mother had played once... Mint's mind drifted and a tear rolled down her delicate face as she thought of her mother. Mint sighed. "Percy?" Mint called out softly to where he had disappeared, seeing if he was close. Mint rolled her eyes playfully and just rolled back onto her back to wait for Percy.
Percy;
Percy trotted down a small hill and through the underbrush then stopped. In front of him was a beautiful little stream reflecting all of the colors in the sky. It made a soft gurgling sound as it trickled by him on it's way downstream. The grass next to it was especially lush and green from being by water, and an assortment of different wildflowers grew around and near it. Across the stream was a meadow and a beautiful view of the sunset and first twinkling stars of the night. Fireflies seemed to be dancing in the meadow, their little lights glowing. This place with so magical and beautiful. Percy quickly walked over to the water and dipped his hooves in it, relishing the feel of water again. Two little minnows darted around his legs and tickled him. Percy looked behind him and saw that the place were Peppermint was was just a little bit away. He wanted more than anything to show this place to her. He cantered back up the small hill and into the grassy area were Peppermint was. He snorted. "Peppermint, come here! I want to show you something." He said with a little twinkle in his eye.

Peppermint ;
Percy ;
The water glistened blue and reflected off of Percy's coat underwater. He swam to the surface and took a breath. He saw a flash of green and brown blending into the vines and trees. He peered through the leaves and tried to make out who was behind them. Who else could be out here?
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Percy's heart filled with relief when she said she could stay. "I don't want you to stay if you need to be somewhere else. But yes! I wan't you to stay." He blurted out then blushed. "I could always show you around." He asked kindly.
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy ;
Peppermint ;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
The moment was so perfect, the sun reflected the water in both of their eyes, and they.. knew.
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
It. Was. Perfection.
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
Peppermint;
Percy;
